SECURITY ALERT (Infant/Child Abduction)formally Code Amber
Actions to take if it occurs on your unit
 Notify Security (x655) or as directed by unit protocol (outside of hospital Call 911)
All available staff/employees cover all unit stairwell doors, elevator areas and exiting doors on the unit involved
Challenge all individuals/groups with infants/children or packages that may contain same. (Notify Security ASAP-Police if outside the hospital)
Immediately search entire unit where abduction occurred
Protect the crime scene
Actions to take if it occurs on another unit
All available staff/employees cover all unit stairwell doors, elevator areas and exiting doors on the unit as the perpetrator/s may have escaped the unit of origin
Challenge all individuals/groups with infants/children or packages that may contain same. (Notify Security ASAP-Police if outside the hospital)
Immediately search entire unit in case perpetrator/s are "hiding" among visitors, patients, etc.
Notify Security/Police of any suspicious person/activity
Actions to take if not assigned to a clinical unit
All available staff/employees cover hospital/facility exits, lobby area/s and exterior of campus including parking and public transportation areas
Notify Security/Police of any suspicious person/activity
AT ALL TIMES ALL PERSONNEL SHALL FOLLOW THE DIRECTION OF SECURITY AND/OR LAW ENFORCEMENT DURING THE RESPONSE
