Notify your chain of command If it was a phoned threat, verbal threat, written threat or email threat into your unit/department use and submit the BOMB THREAT CHECKLIST Report suspicious items to Security x655 (Police via 911 outside of hospital) SUSPICIOUS MAIL OR PACKAGE CHECKLIST Critical Information/Points to Remember Remain Calm Keep the caller on the phone as long as possible and gather information about type of device and location.      Pay attention to caller's voice (young, old, accent)      Pay attention to background noises      Pay attention to any key phrases or comments      Immediately notify Security x655 (or Police via 911 if outside the hospital) If Bomb Threat was verbal use de-escalation techniques (HARP) while awaiting Security/Police If Bomb Threat was written handle the document as little as possible while awaiting Security/Police If Bomb Threat was via email leave message on computer and print, photo or copy the message, subject line, date, time, etc., for Security/Police  Ensure someone documents the threat on the BOMB THREAT CHECKLIST Initiate department/unit search procedure, looking for objects/packages, (especially in areas accessible to visitors such as bathrooms, patient rooms, solariums, etc.)       Walk perimeter of area 3x's            Once-searching shoulder level to overhead           Once-knee to shoulder level           Once-knee to floor/ground, searching entire floor space                     Do not touch any suspicious objects!!! Notify Security (Police if outside hospital) if any suspicious items are found Isolate the area and deny entry to others until arrival of Security/Police Follow Direction of Security/Police at all times BOMB THREAT CHECKLIST SUSPICIOUS MAIL OR PACKAGE CHECKLIST
